Sydney Harbour, New South Wales

Geographic extent: The study area covers the Sow & Pigs Reef and extends in to Sydney Harbour.
Contents: Coastal data; contours and bathymetry for Sow & Pigs Reef, core samples & data, bathymetry for the harbour and the harbour shore line. Aerial images; aerial photography of the entire harbour and a higher resolution image of Port Jackson over the Sow & Pigs Reef.
Data Source: The visualisation comprises datasets from the Shallow Survey 2003 Common Data Set and data collected by the Coastal CRC as part of the Coastal Water Habitat Mapping Project. Aerial photographs are from the Common Data Set and are part of the AUSIMAGE series of ortho-rectified aerial images produced by Sinclair Knight Merz. The images were acquired in January 2000. The 3D bathymetric model of Sydney Harbour is based on data collected by GeoAcoustics using their GeoSwath wide-swath multibeam sonar system between the 5^th and 17^th March 2003 for the Common Data Set. The 3D bathymetric model around the Sow and Pigs reef is based on data collected by the Coastal CRC using a Reson Seabat 8125 multibeam sonar system in July 2003. The sediment samples were also collected by the Coastal CRC during August 2003.
